WHAT IS THE TUSKEGEE MACON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Tuskegee Macon County Community Foundation, Incorporated (TMCCF) was founded October 16, 2002 to enhance the quality of life in the city of Tuskegee and other communities in Macon County by building and sustaining philanthropic capital.  TMCCF was reorganized as of June 13, 2012.

The primary purposes are to:

  • Provide opportunities to maximize programmatic and financial resources;
  • Investigate community needs/issues and organize resources to act on them;
  • Focus on building endowments and community savings account whose annual interest is used to make grants or fund community activities;
  • Serve as stewards of donations and the focus of the donations; and
  •  Receive gifts in the form of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, insurance policies, retirement accounts, and other forms of appreciated or converted assets today, at a future date or through a will or trust

The Board of Trustees is comprised of local citizens and others who have a commitment to the positive welfare of the city and county.  They set the strategic direction of the Foundation and oversee its operations.

TMCCF enables donors, recipients, programs, and community to win.

  • The donor wins because they are actively able to participate in community problem solving, while not being burdened with costly organizational and administrative tasks.
  • The recipients win because they are able to receive targeted funds because of the generosity of the donor.
  • The program wins because they can count on funds to enable them to focus on and meet their objectives without utilizing resources, staff time and funds to raise funds and manage endowments.
  • The community wins because more dollars are directed toward charitable causes, thus providing programs and activities that stretch the use of public money.

TMCCF, is a trusted, visible, dynamic organization that responds to the needs of the community.
